New images of the 37.1-metre Numarine 37XP motor yacht Oculus<\/em> have been unveiled, providing a closer look at her interiors, following her world debut at the Monaco Yacht Show earlier this year.<\/p>\n

As the latest Numarine 37XP yacht to come out of the Turkish shipyard, Oculus<\/em> features exterior design by Can Yalman, highly customised interiors conceived by Hot Lab and naval architecture crafted by Umberto Tagliavini – Marine Design & Services.<\/p>\n

Oculus<\/em>, which is the fourth Numarine 37XP yacht to showcase a Hot Lab design, is characterised by her robust, masculine interior design, along with her angular exterior profile, adorned with trawler windows and a towering bow. A compact explorer yacht, Oculus<\/em> is developed to withstand lengthy voyages on the high seas.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe sharp, angular, and robust nature of this explorer perfectly matched the owner\u2019s stylistic requirements,\u201d commented Antonio Romano, commercial director of the Viken Group and co-founder of Hot Lab. \u201cIn this instance, not only was it unnecessary to force continuity between exteriors and interiors, but it happened almost naturally without external prompts.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe work was also greatly facilitated by the fact that this was the fourth unit in the same series of yachts, so we are very familiar with its design, its spaces, and its strengths. In general, experience makes everything simpler,\u201d added Enrico Lumini, co-founder and design director of Hot Lab.<\/p>\n

Much of Oculus<\/em>\u2019s main deck is occupied by a spacious, open-plan saloon containing a dining area, lounging area, and bar, which are all flanked by floor-to-ceiling glass windows. \u201cOver 20 years designing interiors for some of the world\u2019s most iconic yachts, we have built up a clear understanding of yacht spaces, and it comes naturally to envision how a space can be enhanced,\u201d Lumini further explained.<\/p>\n

At a volume of 362 GT, Oculus<\/em> is capable of hosting up to 12 guests across six staterooms, which include an extensive master suite located forward on the main deck, equipped with an acrylic feature wall displaying jellyfish. Remaining guests are accommodated on the deck below, while a large upper deck lounge and flybridge above serve as convivial social settings.<\/p>\n

In terms of her decor, Oculus<\/em> exhibits pale upholstery that is juxtaposed with grey and black cushions, alongside dark stained oak flooring and gleaming white deckheads. Furthermore, Numarine\u2019s signature ebony slats are coupled with white marble that is shot with squid ink black and deep woollen carpets showcase swirling, organic patterns.<\/p>\n

Stone is also a central focus onboard Oculus<\/em>, particularly behind her bar, positioned on the forward section of her upper saloon. Here, three large backlit panels of cream, gold and black onyx exude the essence of a nightclub, which is further augmented by the presence of stitched leather barstools and the metallic mesh of the bar. By contrast, the bar located in the saloon below is composed of a lighter, primarily white colour scheme.<\/p>\n

As Lumini explained, \u201cThe owner requested something contemporary and quite masculine, with bold colours and contrasts. The design had to be timeless, recognisable, but not tied to fleeting trends. That\u2019s why we immediately opted for the most classic contrast – black and white – playing with smoked mirrors, wood panelling, and significant glossy surfaces to create reflections and shadow effects.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition, stone materials feature strongly throughout the his-and-hers bathroom in the owner\u2019s suite, where a silvery marble can be found underfoot and around the basins, while a dark stone wall encompasses the shower\u2019s jellyfish pattern. Moreover, the bathroom benefits from plenty of glass, allowing natural light from the hull windows to illuminate the space.<\/p>\n
