Representing a groundbreaking venture into yachting elegance and innovation, the interior images showcase the innovative use of materials and form to be enjoyed by the public and private charter experiences with Fraser.
As the world’s preeminent aluminum sailing catamaran, Art Explorer heralds a new era for the Perini Navi name, post its acquisition by The Italian Sea Group in 2021.
A floating gallery of culture, the yacht embarks on a globetrotting journey of two years with a mission to curate unique artistic experiences. Axel de Beaufort, the acclaimed French architect, has lent his vision to the yacht’s internal and external design, crafting spaces where art and the oceanic landscapes converse.
Onboard, the expansive catamaran can accommodate up to 12 guests across six guest suites, including three on the main deck. A prize is her extensive flybridge, which transforms into an avant-garde space for virtual exhibitions, interactive workshops, and thought-provoking visceral experiences.
Meanwhile, within the main saloon, natural woods, and curved glass house a sanctuary for the arts, inaugurated by a digital exposition curated by Nomi Daucé, a renowned figure from the Louvre Abu Dhabi. Natural materials have been utilised across the upholsteries, with a modern take on nautical pinstripe patterns being adopted, only this time a burnt orange and cream replace navy.
Art Explorer’s exterior is as striking as it is within. The deckhouse boasts a 65-square-metre solar array, instantly harnessing 12 kilowatts of power and generating 200 kilowatts daily. Lithium batteries onboard ensure emissions-free power for extensive periods, while advanced filtration systems in the exhaust aim to mitigate emissions and airborne particulates.
To act as a public space, the catamaran form will be most effective with a beam stretching 17.3-metres and a mast of 55-metres. Featuring a fully automated, carbon fibre sail configuration, ArtExplorer promises seamless sailing. She is capable of cruising at 10 knots even in gentle breezes, all manageable by a single individual.
The owner’s vision for launching ArtExplorer was to create a dialogue between philanthropic free access to art and culture with the joys of exploring even the most remote spaces thanks to the catamaran form. The cleverly designed spaces will bring contemporary art directly to a global audience. This superyacht is envisioned as a vessel that transcends physical borders and challenges the conventional confines of art presentation.
Charting the yacht itinerary, the inaugural journey commences in Malta, followed by appearances at Venice’s Biennale and Cannes Film Festival 2024. With each destination, ArtExplorer will morph from a museum into a cinematic experience, offering guests an immersive journey through art, history, and nature.
In selecting a catamaran for this unique artistic endeavor, stability, space, and the ability to welcome numerous visitors daily were paramount. Thus, ArtExplorer is not merely another superyacht on the water but a pioneering platform for art, innovation, and environmental consciousness, charting a new course for luxury yachting.
